Are you one of the proud people living in South India? Are you a Sriman Narayan bhakta?

For the majority of us, the river Kiruthamala is unknown. However, this was once the lifeline of the people of Madurai. The river's water was said to be clean, and sweet.

In addition, it was looked upon as a sacred river and people revered it. The river was originating from Nagamalai in Thuvariman (துவரிமான்) village. It is located 9 km from Madurai, near Thiruparankundram (திருப்பரங்குன்றம்). Its pin code is 625019.

The river simply disappeared from the scene. But, it was mentioned in Srimad Bhagavatha puranam written about 5000 years ago!

Some students of Fathima college, Madurai were trying to revive the sacred Kiruthamala. 

It was published in "The Hindu" dated 2 March 2016.

Is the river kruthamala, now known as the more familiar Vaigai River?

Regarding Maha Nadi, I think it must point to the Periyar River because it is the only river in south India that flows from east to west. However, I am no authority in this. I may be wrong.
